The Role of Family
Let's start at the very beginning Family. That's where so many life choices originate. For me, the choice to begin playing water polo sprouted from the interest my older siblings showed in the sport. Their interest came both from their friends already on the team, as well as the knowledge of our grandfather's past participation in the sport. Funnily enough, my grandfather played water polo back when the sport was still played in the nude! When I first started watching my brother, who is four years older than me, play in his high school games, I was transfixed by the complexity of the sport. Obviously, this meant I had to give it a go myself. I first began playing water polo in sixth grade after watching those first few games of my brother.
